Commonly referred to as "rotameters", these are inexpensive and reliable instruments which provide flow-rate indication for liquids, gases, and steam. Consisting of a tapered tube and float, variable area flowmeters are mounted vertically in a piping system and do not require power. They are available with glass, metal, or plastic metering tubes. Available options include regulating valves, 1000 Bar execution, transmitters, ATEX zone 1, and alarm switches.
